Hanxiao Shao is a lecturer at the Department of Product Design, Art Design College, Zhejiang Gongshang University. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts and her master’s degree from Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. Her personal design works have won awards such as the iF Design Award and have been exhibited at various exhibitions. She was selected for the “Zhejiang Province Qianjiang Talent Plan” in 2019 and has since led or participated in several provincial and ministerial-level research projects in China. Her research areas include product design, universal design, design application theory, and cultural and creative product design. She has been long focused on the design of rehabilitation and intervention toys for children with intellectual disabilities and autism, such as products for rehabilitation intervention combined with picture book teaching and the design of educational picture books and related products for children in cross-cultural contexts. She is currently doing a research stay with the COMICS research group at Ghent University (June 2024 to May 2025).
